All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ Harriet Wells Young Mrs. Richard Young, wife of a former representative to congress from a New York district and a former resident of Wellsville, this county, died at her home in Brooklyn, N. Y., Saturday, Nov. 16th, after a brief sickness. Mrs. Young’s maiden name was Harriet Wells and she was the daughter of Abraham Wells, the founder of Wellsville. She was married to Richard Young, of New York city, on August 23, 1871, and had three children, William Wells, Olive Viola and Richard Young. The latter two are still living. She is also survived by three sisters who reside in the vicinity of Wellsville. They are Mrs. Thomas Hoover, Mrs. Laura Belt, and Miss Ella Wells. On July 8, 1908, the William Wells Young memorial public school and library, donated by Mrs. Richard Young to the borough of Wellsville, was dedicated. This building was erected in memory of the son, William Wells Young, who died in the year 1886. It cost $30,000. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, November 23, 1912
