All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ _______________________________________________ YOUNG Richard Young, Jr., died about eight o’clock Thursday morning, at his Summer home at Wellsville, after a few days illness, of meningitis, which started with the grip. Mr. and Mrs. Young came to Wellsville to spend a few days and when his condition became critical Drs. H. B. King and W. F. Bacon, of York, were called into consultation with Dr. H. B. Hetrick, later two specialists in diseases of the brain, Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Brown, of Brooklyn, were called and together with Dr. S. H. Ensminger, of York, and Dr. Brcue Guistwhite, of Baltimore, did all that medical and surgical skill could to save Mr. Young’s life. His father, Hon. Richard Young, arrieved Tuesday. There survives his wife, Marjorie Reeves Young, a son and a daughter. Charles G. Elicker, the Funeral Director, prepared the body for burial and the funeral party will leave for New York, Friday morning, where services and interment will take place. As a mark of respect the Wellsville schools were closed at once, not to reopen until Monday. Mr. Young had always been a friend of the schools and contributed many books to the library when it was started. The school building was donated to the town by the Hon. And Mrs. Richard Young.
