Stine, Formerly of Hanover, Married at Bridgeport, Conn. A dispatch from Bridgeport, Conn., dated, Aug. 19th gives an account of the marriage of a former Hanoverian, John R. Stine, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Stine, of East Middle Street. The groom is 25 years old, instead of 28 years, as stated in the dispatch, which follows: Word was received here today of the marriage on Wednesday of Mrs. Ida Scribner, wealthy widow of H. H. Scribner, a real estate broker, mother of a grown up family and a grandmother, to John R. Stine, aged 28, who holds a prominent position with the Locomobile Company of America. The marriage took place at Pittsfield, where the couple went for that purpose. Mr. Stine had been a caller at the Scribner house for some time, being of the same age as George Scribner, son of the present Mrs. Stine. The matter was regarded as one of friendship, and it was with great surprise that the news of the wedding was learned here. Mrs. Stine is about fifty years old and is a prominent member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Young Men’s Christian Association, with which institution Mr. Stine is interested. Her son, George Scribner, who manages the real estate business in this city, said he had no intimation of the marriage. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, August 28, 1909
