Will of John Blackburn, c. 1752 John Blackburn died in Menallen Township in York County (now Adams Co.), Pennsylvania prior to 10 Oct 1752 when his will was proved. This will, which is dated 14 Mar 1752, is recorded in Will Book A, County of York, and follows: Whereas I John Blackburn of Menalen Township, County of York and Province of Pennsylvania, being in weakness of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory have thought good to make order and Apoint this my last will and Testament in Manner and form following Revoaking and Dissannuling all manner of Will or Wills before by me made, I comit my Soul to God all mighty who give it to me and my Body to be Deacently Buried at the Desscresion of Reachel Blackburn and my Sone John Blackburn whom I order and appoint my Executors to see the orderly accomplishments of this my will and to see all my Worldly Debts and Funeral Charges everywhere to be paid I do Order and give to my Loveing wife all and Singler my Household goods and Chattle that I do now possess to her use and Disposing Except one cow and one sheep that I do Love (leave?) and give to my Daughter Reachel Blackburn and except one cow that I do Love and give to my Daughter Abigill Willson. It is also my will and mind that I do give and devise unto my Sons Anthony and Joseph Blackburn my Plantation of Piece of Land that I now live on to be Equaly Divided between them Except my Dwelling House and Horses to the use of my Loving wife during her natural life or widowhood. I do also order and alow that my two Soons Anthony Blackburn and Joseph Blackburn to provide and procure a living or alow my Loveing wife to have a Liveing raised upon the said Willed Primissus during her natural life or Widowhood. I do also Leave and bequeth to my Sons Thomas and John Blackburn the Sume of five shillings to Each of them. In witness whereof I do hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this fourtheenth day of the first month in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty-two. Signed, Sealed and Delivered his in the Presents of John Blackburn Thomas Wilson mark Jacob Henshow York County. Before me the subscriber one of his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the said County of York came Thomas Wilson and Jacob Henshaw the two subscribing witnesses to the within will and in their solemn affirmation respectively do say that they were Personally Present and saw and heard the within named John Blackburn the Testator Sign Seal Publish and Declare the within as his last will and Testmen and that at the doing thereof he was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of their knowledge. Affirmed the 23rd day of the 10th month, 1752 before me Thomas Wilson John Pope Jacob Henshaw Memorandum the Letters of Testmentary in Common form were granted to Rachel Blackburn and John Blackburn of the Estate of John Blackburn late of Manallin Township Deceased. Inventory to be exhibited into the Register's Office at York on or before the twenty third day of November next and an accompt on or before the twenty-third day of October next, the Executors having been first duly qualified. Given under the Seal of the Register's Office at York the 23rd day of October 1752. per George Stevenson Dep. Reg. John Blackburn's widow, Rachel, survived until 30 Aug 1766, when she, too, died in Menallen Township.
