This file was submitted for use in the USGenWeb Project Archives by John & Cindy McCachern I Philip Hentz of Manchester Township in the county of York and province of Pennsylvania, Farmer, being in good Health bu Aged and knowing that I cannot continue long in this world and being now of sound disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, to wit, I commend my soul to God who gave it, and my body to be buried in a decent Christian like manner by my executor herin named--And as touching such worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with my will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be honestly paid by my executor as soon as possible after my decease. And I do hereby give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Barbara the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds lawful money of the province aforesaid to her, her heirs and assigns for ever. And I further give unto her my said wife all and singular my said household goods, to wit, my moveable goods and effects meaning none other thatn beds, beding and other my household furniture and what my son Nicholas is bound by agreement between us to provide. Item, I give unto my son Mark Hentz the sum of five shillings lawful money of the Province aforesaid by Reason that he hath already had his share. Item, I give unto my son Philip Hentz the like sup of five shillings lawful money of the province aforesaid by reason that he hath already had his share. Item, I give unto my son Philip Hentz the like sum of five shillings like money, and the same reason. Item, I give unto my daughter mary Upp the like Sum of five shillings, like money and the same reason. Item, I give unto my daughter mary Elizabeth Protzman the sum of five shillings like money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Benzel the Sum of Twenty-Three pounds like lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my daughter Catharine Wymer the sum of fourteen pounds like lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my Son Henry hentz the Sum of eighteen pounds like lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my son Nicholas Hentz the sum of fifteen pounds lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my daughter Anna Maria Unsel the sum of twenty one pounds like lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my daughter Maria Barbara hentz the sum of Thirty pounds lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my son John Hentz the like sum of thirty pounds like lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give unto my son Peter Hentz the like sum of thirty pounds like lawful money as aforesaid. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Martin Hentz the sum of fifty pounds like lawful money as aforesaid to hold to them and lack of them their heirs and assigns forever. And in case either of my four last children named should die without lawful issue, then and that case I order what they or the deceased leaves to be equally divided between the surviving ones, to wit, of the last four mentioned children, and I further order that after the aforesaid several divisions are made and any thing that remain the same be equally divided among my children herein before named. And I do hereby nominate and appoint my trusty friend Peter Wolf in Manchester Township aforesaid Tavern keeper to be the executor of this my last will and testament, in trust for the Intent and purposes in this my Last Will and Testament contained, and I do hereby revoke, disanul and make void all other and former will and wills by me heretofore made. Inwitness whereof I, the said Philip Hentz the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of December, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy four. Witnesses--Henrich Wolf, Erasmus Holtzaphel, Erasmus Holtzaphel, Jr. Whereas I Philip Hentz the testator of and in above and foregoing Will and Testament, do hereby make and publish this codicil to be a part of my aforegoing will and testament as follows (to wit) It is my absolute Will and I do hereby order and direct that the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds lawful money which I have given and bequeathed unto Barbara my beloved wife in and by my said last will shall be paid to her the said Barbara, totally, and in the whole in gold and silver coin to the full amount thereof in the said sum of two hundred and fifty pounds.
