York County Will Book R, page 382 In the name of God, Amen, I Anthony Hinkle, of the Borough of Hanover in the County of York and State of Pennsylvania am advanced in age but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding thanks be to God for the same, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die Do therefore make and declare this present instrument of writing as & for my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my imortal soul into the hands of the Almighty God my Creator trusting in the merits of my blessed savior and redeemer Jesus Christ for pardon and remission of all my sins as for my body I recommend it to the earth from whence it came to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named and as for such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this world I give devise order and direct the same to be disposed of as follows (viz.) In premise I order & direct that as soon and conveniently may be after my decease that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid out of my estate by my executors hereinafter named and I do order and direct that all my estate real and personal shall be equally divided between my eight children viz. John L. Hinkle, Elizabeth intermarried with Abraham Thoman, Sarah intermarried with John B. Wentz, Julianna intermarried with William Eyster, Lydia intermarried with Peter Hoffman, Anna Mary intermarried with Jacob Flickinger, William L. Hinkle, and Margaret intermarried with Lewis Ruhlman I also order and direct that all the accounts I have in a little book against all my children each of them shall be charged with the principal but not with any interest and now respecting my six daughters above named she that is not even with the highest shall receive in rotation until they are all even with the highest and until they have got share and share alike, and so on until my six daughters have had and received as much each of them as my two sons John L. Hinkle and William L. Hinkle stands charged with in my little book and after my six daughters have had and received until they have each of them received as much as each of my two sons John L. Hinkle and William L. Hinkle shall receive in rotation with their six sisters and until my eight children have got share and share alike, I have bonds against my two sons viz. John L. Hinkle and William L. Hinkle for two hundred pounds each which become due yearly and whereas I Anthony Hinkle for good and valuable considerations me thereunto moving hath agreed to take and receive only one hundred and fifty pounds for each of the above mentioned bonds of two hundred pounds respectively page 383 in full satisfaction and discharge thereof so that under no circumstances whatever shall more than one hundred and fifty pounds be claimed on each of the aforesaid bonds of two Hundred pounds each which I have against my two sons viz. John L. Hinkle and William L. Hinkle now again it is my will and I do order and direct that if in case one of my said daughters aforesaid should die before her husband then the share yet coming to her out of my real & personal estate shall be paid over to their children born of her body share and share alike I have by my said will given and bequeathed unto my daughter Julianna part of my whole Estate to be paid unto her as will appear by my said will and whereas for Sundry good causes I order and direct that said share and part of my whole estate shall not be paid over unto my said daughters Julianna but my Executors named in my said will shall pay the whole thereof into the hands of John B. Wentz one of the Executors named in my said will whom I do hereby nominate and appoint trusteefor my said daughter Julianna and he shall put the same to interest, and she my said daughter Julianna receive the interest thereof annually during her natural life for her sole use and should the interest not be sufficient for her yearly maintenance the said trustee may pay unto her a part or the principal in hand if he thinks proper so to do for her sole use maintainance and support and a receipt from the hands of said Julianna for a part or the whole of said money shall be a sufficient release to said John B. Wentz, the trustee aforesaid for the same and should any money remain in the hands of said trustee at the death of my said daughter Julianna then he shall pay the same over unto her daughter Salome my Grand Daughter and a receipt for a part or the whole of the money in the trustees hands from said Salome shall be a sufficient release to said John B. Wentz the trustee aforesaid and if my said Grand daughter Salome should not live to survive her mother Julianna then it is my will that the share yet remaining in the hands of John B. Wentz the trustee aforesaid shall be paid over to all the Children born of the body of my Daughter Julianna share and share alike and a receipt from the hands of them respectively shall be a sufficient release to the said John B. Wentz, the trustee aforesaid for the same: It is my will and I order and direct my Executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease to sell all my lands and the ground rents in the borough of Hanover at private or public sale to the best advantage they can likewise all my personal effects and further I do hereby empower my Executors hereinafter named to give as good and lawful deeds of Conveyance for my real estate and for the ground rents in the Borough of Hanover as I could have done if I had been living. I likewise order and direct my Executors hereinafter named to purchase out of my Estate real or personal to grave stones for me equal to them I erected to my beloved wife Salome and all my apparel to be divided between my two sons John L. Hinkle page 384 and William L. Hinkle and all my Books to be divided between all my children as equally as can be done, and Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my son-in- law John B. Wentz and my Grand son Anthony H. Thoman Executors of this my last will and testament hereby disannulling and making null and void all former and other wills and wills heretofore made by me ratifying and confirming this & no other to be and remain as and for my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty-first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight and thirty, Anthony Hinkle [seal] Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, George Krafft Jacob H. Reily Register, for the probate of wills and granting letters of Administration in and for said County of York and State of Pennsylvania personally appeared George Krafft and Jacob H. Thoman the two subscribing witnesses to the above instrument of writing called the last will and testament of Anthony Hinkle & on their solemn oaths depose and say that they were personally present saw the said Anthony Hinkle, sign his name, and heard him publicly pronounce and declare said instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and at the time of the doing thereof he was of sound disposing mind memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge and belief, and that they signed their names as witnesses thereto at his request & in his presence & in the presence of each other at the same time George Krafft Jacob H.
