York County Pennsylvania Volume I/J p. 314-315 (1796): MEMORANDUM that letters Testamentary in common form were Granted unto Philip Mohr & Peter Mohr (with a copy of the Will in the German Language to the Letters annexed) of the Estate of Nicholas Mohr late of ManchesterTownship York County deceased. Inventory to be Exhibited into the Registers Office at York on or before the Twenty fourth Day of November next ensuing, and an amount or reckoning in a year or when legally thereunto required. This is an unrecorded will. NICKLAUS MOHR [Original in German; modern English abstract by Lissy Weirick] p.56/7 Dated 2 Aug 1791. Of Manchester Twp. Sick and weak. Wife Anna Margarethe shall receive possession of house, including the stove, house clock, her bed and all accessories, and her spinning wheel; mainly whatever she wants and thinks is necessary. Also 15 pounds in advance. Son Peter shall receive entire plantation for 450 pounds. May not sell estate until wife's death. Peter shall annually give his mother firewood for stove, [etc]. After wife's death, estate to be divided equally among heirs. Payments to be made yearly as follows: to daughter Anna Margarethe married to Anthony Desenberg, to son Christian, to son Philip, fourth year Peter to give nothing as this is his year to receive it, to youngest daughter Katharina married to Adam Schuler. Peter shall receive the apple press and windmill in advance. Executors: sons Philip and Peter. Witnesses: Nicklaus Bohn [Marked] and Christopher Grinewald [Marked]. Testator marked. Probated 24 Oct 1796, with witnesses affirming before Jacob Barnitz, Register. {What follows is the information from a memorandum in German written on the will.] Christian Mohr, Philip Mohr, Anthony Desenberg, and Adam Schuler, having signed under oath, settled their claims with Peter Mohr regarding the last will and testament following the death of Nicholas Mohr. He paid each of the heirs 20 sillings more than the testament entry on June 11, 1792. Witnesses were Nicklaus Bohr [Marked], Christopher Grinewald [Marked], and Philip Bohn [German]. The four heirs all signed in German.
