We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ WILL OF PETER MOHR OF PARADISE TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA VOLUME I/J p. 366-367 (1797) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I, Peter Mohr of Paradise Township in the County of York and State of Pennsylvania Yeoman being in health of body and of sound disposing Mind, Memory and Understanding (Thanks be to God) Considering the uncertainty of the time of my life, Do this Twenty third day of August In the Year of Our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and Ninety six Make and publish this my Last Will and Testament as follows. Imprimis that is to say, principally and first of all - I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner, and as touching all my Worldly Estate, I give, devise and bequeath of the same as follows. First I order that all my just debts and funeral charges be first paid and satisfied by my Executors herein after named. Item I Give and Bequeath unto my youngest son John (over and above his equal share with the rest of my children) Viz. my large Family Bible, one new Chest one new feather bed with bowlster and Pillows & bedsted, and the sum of One hundred pounds lawful money to be paid over to him by my Executors on demand, out of the monies arising from the sale of my real and personal Estate exclusive of his equal dividend & share of my real and personal Estate as a token for the filial affection and gratitude which he respectfully shewn to me and for other Good causes. To Hold the said peremtory part or over and above share of my Estate as above bequeathed unto my said son John, and to his heirs and Assigns forever. Item it is my Will and I do order that my Executors hereinafter named shall as soon as possible after my decease make public sale to the best Advantage of all my effects and personal property. And of my now dwelling plantation and Tract of land situate in Paradise Township aforesaid Adjoining lands of John Stauffer, Philip Weiland and others, containing Two hundred and seventeen acres to the same more or less and to make and Execute as good a deed and Title to the purchasor of my land as I myself might or could do if I were personally present. Item it is further my Will that all the moneys arising from and out of the sale of my said Plantation and Tract of Land and of my personal Estate shall be equally divided between my Nine Children share and share alike (the above bequeathed over and above share of money and Articles to my son John being first deducted out) Viz. my eldest son Jacob, my daughter Eva, Catharine, Elisabeth, Barbara, Magdalena, Gertraut, Margaret and my youngest son John aforenamed. To Hold to them respectively equally in share alike and their respective Heirs or Assigns forever. And I do hereby Nominate my Brother in law John Wolff and my trusty friend George Julius to be Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. And I do also appoint the aforenamed John Wolf to be Guardian over the person and Estate of my beloved son John. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal the day and year first above written. Peter Mohr {Seal} Signed, Sealed, published and Declared by the said Peter Mohr (the testator) as and for his last will and Testament In the presence of us the Word "alike" being first interlined- Jno. Morris, Michael Dandel, John Wolf York County SS: Before me Jacob Barnitz Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administrations in and for the County of York in the State of Pennsylvania personally came John Morris, Michael Dandel and John Wolf junr. the three subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of Writing and the said John Morris on his solemn affirmation (he conscientiously scrupling the taking of an Oath) And they the said, Michael Dandel and John Wolf the Younger on their Solemn Oaths Do severally say that they were personally present and Saw and heard the above named Peter Mohr Sign his name unto and Seal and publish the foregoing Instrument of Writing as and for his LAst Will and Testament. And that at the time of the doing thereof he the said Peter Mohr was of a Sound and disposing Mind, Memory and understanding to the beset of their Knowledge and belief. And that they subscribed their Names thereto as Witnesses in the presence of the said Testator and at his request and also in the presence of each other at the same time. Michael Dandel, John Wolff, Jno. Morris Sworn Affirmed & Subscribed before me at York the Sixth day of May AD. 1797 a true copy taken from and Compared with the Original at York. J. Barnitz, Regr. I George Julius on of the Executors named in and by the Last Will & Testament of Peter Mohr Late of Paradise Township deceased, do hereby for divers good causes Renounce my Executorship of sd. deceased's will. To Jacob Barnitz Register of York County, true copy taken from and compared with the original MEMORANDUM That Letters Testatmentary in Common form were granted unto John Wolf of the Estate of Peter Mohr deceased. Inventory to be Exhibited into the Registers Office at York on or before the sixth day of August next ensuing. And and Account or Reckoning in a year or when legally thereunto required.
