All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Brian McFarland bdmcfar@powersupply.net March 24, 2005, 11:15 am Source: Lds Microfilm Of York County Will Books Written: June 15, 1840 Will of George Ruhlman Jun. of Manheim Twp., York Co., PA York County Will Book S, page 106 In the name of God, Amen I George Ruhlman, of Manheim township in the County of York, and State of Pennsylvania, being sick and weak in body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world, whenever it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) first and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator, hoping for free pardon and remission of all my sins, and to enjoy everlasting happiness in the heavenly Kingdom, through Jesus Christ my Savior; my body I committ to the earth at the discretion of my Executor herein after named, and as to my or such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to entrust me, I dispose of the same as followeth, I will that all my just debts as shall be by me owing at my death, together with my Funeral expenses and charges touching the proving of or otherwise concerning this my last will shall in the first place out of my personal estate and effects be fully paid and satisfied. It is my will, and I give and bequeath my Rifle, together with my powder horn, and all the implements thereto belonging, unto Amos Ruhlman, oldest son of my Brother Lewis Ruhlman, and my silver watch, I give and bequeath unto Margaret Ruhlman, the wife of my Brother Lewis Ruhlman. It is also my will and I give and bequeath my Ball Mare unto mother, Margaret Ruhlman. It is my will and I order and direct, that my executor hereinafter named, shall as soon as conveniently can be done after my death, sell all my personal page 107 estate and moveable effects (except such as heretofore otherwise bequeathed) at public sale, and the money arising from such sale shall remain in the hands of my Executors during the natural life of my mother, Margaret Ruhlman, and shall be applied to the maintainance of my said mother if need be. As to my real estate it is my will and I order and direct, that my executors (by the consent of my mother Margaret Ruhlman not otherwise) shall immediately after my death, sell at public sale, to the best advantage, my dwelling plantation together all my other lands, authorising and impowering my Executors herein after named to give a good and lawfull Deed or Deeds of conveyance to the purchaser or purchasers for the same, which said Deed or Deeds shall be as valled in law as if I had personally executed the same in my lifetime, and the money arising out of the sale of my real estate, shall be disposed of in the following manner to wit, I give and bequeath unto my brother Lewis Ruhlman, the sum of one hundred dollars. I give and bequeath unto my sister Catherine, intermarried with Henry Shauck, the sum of one hundred dollars. I give and bequeath unto Salome Henny, daughter of Jacob Henny now living in Richland County, Ohio the sum of one hundred dollars. I give and bequeath unto George Walker, son of Nicholas Walker, the sum of one dollar, and the remainder of the money arising out of my real estate, shall be divided into four equal parts, one equal fourth part thereof I give and bequeath unto the children of my Brother Lewis Ruhlman share and share alike, one fourth equal part thereof I give and bequeath, unto the children of my sister Catherine, intermarried to Henry Shauck, one equal fourth part thereof, I give and bequeath, unto the children of my sister Elizabeth, intermarried to Nicholas Walker, one equal fourth part thereof I give and bequeath unto the children of my sister Margaret intermarried to John Wentz, which said several sums of money and bequests shall be paid over by my executors herein after named as soon as it comes in their hands or as soon as it can be collected, to the persons entitled to the same, or to their legal representatives, according to this my will. And lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my beloved Brother Lewis Ruhlman, and my friend Jacob W. Werner, my Executors, of this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking and annulling all former Wills, by me made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this Fifteenth day of June, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and forty.
