All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Brian McFarland bdmcfar@powersupply.net March 24, 2005, 11:13 am Source: Lds Microfilm Of York County Will Books Written: June 26, 1830 Recorded: August 29, 1839 Will of Jacob Ruhlman of Manheim Twp., York Co., PA York County Will Book S, page 56 In the name of God, Amen, I Jacob Ruhlman of Manheim Township York County and State of Pennsylvania being old and weak in Body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence Do therefore make and publish this my last will and Testament, in manner and form following, that is to say: First & principally I commend my immortal soul into the Hands of God who gave it, and my body to the earth, to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named; Item it is my will I order and direct that all my Just debts and funeral expences shall be paid off and discharged as soon as conveniently they can be after my decease; Item I Give and bequeath unto my son John Ruhlman my Rifle over and above to that I shall give him hereinafter, my Executors shall purchase one pair of Grave Stones for me and have them put up and pay the expences out of my Estate. Item I also mention that I have heretofore advanced unto all my children namely John Ruhlman, Elizabeth intermarried with Abraham Lauer, Catherine intermarried with Daniel Hamm, Mary Ruhlman and Margaret Ruhlman each of them respectively the sum of Four hundred dollars in part of their share out of my Estate. Item It is further my will I order and direct that all my Estate that I shall die possessed off be the same whatsoever shall be sold by my Executors hereinafter named at public or private sale to the best advantage and the money arising from the sale thereof shall be equally divided amongst all my children their heirs and assigns share and share alike. And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my loving son John Ruhlman and my son in law Daniel Hamm to be the Executors to this my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby revoke and disannull all will and wills by me made heretofore, Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of June in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty. Jacob Ruhlman [seal] Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by Jacob Ruhlman the above named testator as and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witness thereto. John Albright David Zumbrum John L. Hinkle York County, to wit Before me, Jacob B. Wentz, Deputy Register for page 57 the Probate of Wills and granting of Letters of Administration in and for the said county, personally appeared , John L. Hinkle and David Zumbrum two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing, who on their Solemn oath do severally depose and say, that they saw Jacob Ruhlman, the Testator named in said instrument, sign his name thereunto and seal the same, and heard him the said Jacob, publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament, and that at the time of so doing, he the said Jacob Ruhlman, was of sound and disposine mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief, and that they respectively subscribed their names thereto as witnesses at the request of the testator, in his presence, and that they also saw John Albright the other witness subscribe his name thereto at the testator’s request, in his presence and that they all subscribed in the presence of each other, at the same time. John L. Hinkle David Zumbrum Sworn and subscribed, in the Register’s Office, in and for the said County, the 29th day of August A.D. 1839 Before me Jacob B. Wentz Deputy Regr. Memorandum, That Letters Testamentary, (with a copy of the last Will and Testament of Jacob Ruhlman, late of Manheim Township York County deceased, annexed) were duly granted to John Ruhlman, the first Executor named in the said Will (Daniel Hamm the other Executor having removed out of the County) after the said John having first been duly sworn according to Law, that as Executor he will well and truly administer the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased according to law; and that he will diligently and faithfully regard and well and truly comply with the provisions of the law relating to Collateral inheritances.
