All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/york/ ________________________________________________ Will of William Underwood I William Underwood of Warrington Township in the County of York and State of Pennsylvania being weak in body but of sound disposing Mind and Memory, do make ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and following, that is to say First it is my Will that all my just debts and Funeral expenses be first discharged, to be raised out of my Estate and paid by the hands of my Executors herein after named as soon as may be after my decease. I give and devise unto my Son Elihu and to his Heirs and Assigns forever Eighty nine Acres and one hundred and four perches and the allowance of six acres per cent for roads and highways situated in Warrington Township aforesaid Bounded and Described as follows, to wit. Beginning at a Black Oak thence by land of Frederick Harman North fifty six Degrees East eighty five perches to a Stone thence by a line dividing this from the other part of my land or lands North thirty three Degrees West one and eighty five perches to a Stone, thereby land of Robert Vale, South forty eight degrees west eighty six perches to a heap of stones thence by the same and land of the aforesaid Harman south thirty three degrees East one hundred and seventy three perches to the Place of Beginning. Containing eighty nine Acres and one hundred and four perches of Land and the allowance as aforesaid, Togeather with all and singular the Buildings and Improvements thereon erected and made, provided that he my said son Elihu will well and truly pay or cause to be paid to my Estate for the use of the rest of my Family the sum of fifty pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania due to be paid within four years after my decease. He my said son Elihu having paid and secured to be paid to me and my use for the same above described piece of land the Sum of One hundred and Eighty seven pounds lawful money aforesaid, I give and devise all the remainder of my land or lands to my two sons Elihu and Obed and to their heirs and Assigns forever, to be equally divided between them. Provided that they my said two sons Elihu and Obed will justly and freely find and provide or cause to be found and provided for my beloved wife Ruth and for my Son William every thing Necessary relating to their maintenance and support suitable to their age and state of health during their natural lives. I give and bequeath to my said wife and to my said son William all my grain in the ground as also all other grain that I now have for their support and also for the support of such of my children as now lives with me so long as they abide with my said wife and son William so far as it my said grain will reach. I also give and bequeath to my said wife all my Beds and Bedding, All my household and Kitchen furniture whatsoever for her use during her natural life. I also give and bequeath to my said wife out of my stock of creatures two cows and two heifers her choice to be kept where they now are on my plantation for her support and the support of my said son William. Also my stallion and my sorrel horse my plough and tackling, and my horse Geers to remain in her hands in order to till the ground on my said plantation in order for her support and the support of my said son William as also as many of my Swine as she shall choose also her side saddle. I give and bequeath to my said William all my Wearing Apparel. I give and bequeath to my son Zephannia the sum of five pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania . I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lydia Read the sum of five pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid at the end of twelve months after my decease. I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Davies the sum of five pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid after the end of twelve months after my decease. I give and bequeath to my daughter Ruth Bradley the sum of five pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid at the end of twelve months after my decease. I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Underwood the sum of Ten pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid at the end of fifteen months after my decease. I give and bequeath to my son Jesse Underwood the sum of fifteen pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to me paid at the end of eighteen months after my decease. I give and bequeath to my daughter Rachael Underwood the sum of Ten Pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid at the end of eighteen months after my decease. I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Hannah Underwood the sum of five shillings lawful money of Pennsylvania. And as vouching the remainder of my Estate , If there shall be any left after the decease of my said wife Ruth and my son William it is my will that the same shall then be equally divided between seven of my children, To wit, Zephannia Underwood, Lydia Read, Jane Davies, Ruth Bradley, Hannah Underwood, Jesse Underwood, and Rachael Underwood, and lastly I appoint my trusty Brother Benjamin Underwood and my son Elihu Underwood Executors of this my last Will and Testament In Trust for the true Intent and Purposes in this my Will confirmed. Hereby revoking all former wills by me made, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Twelfth Day of the Fifth Month in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and eighty five. Signed, Sealed an Published and declared by the said William Underwood to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto Subscribed our names as Witnesses in the Presence of the Testator Peter Cleaver, Alexander Underwood
