year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty-Four, I, Anthony
Rhode, of the Township of Manchester and County of York and State of
Pennsylvania, Yeoman, being very weak in body but of perfect mind and
memory thanks to God therefore, calling to mind the mortality of the
body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, I do
make and ordain this my last will and testament, and that is to say,
First of all I give and recommend my soul unto God that gave it and my
body to be buried in a Christian and decent manner at the discretion of
my Executors, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath
pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of in
the following manner and form:

Itim:  I order first of all that my doctor bill and my funeral expenses
be paid, and next that all my just debts be discharged ---- by my
executors of this my will and testament hereafter mentioned.

Itim:  I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife, Madlene Rhode, to
be paid by my executors of this my last will and testament hereinafter
mentioned, one bed and bedding, one cow, her choice of my tack, her
side-saddle, and spinning wheel, two iron pance and two iron potts, and
all the remainder of my personal estate to be praised and not to public
sale and her, my said wife, to have one- third part thereof.

Itim:  That my plantation with all the buildings and what thereunto
belongs to be praised and put to public sale and my wife to have no
part thereof, and said Plantation to be publicly advertised three
months before the sale thereof and whoever byeth said Plantation to pay
three hundred pounds down at the time of said sale, which sum is to be
equally divided between by four eldest children, their heirs or assigns,
to wit; Henry Rhodes, John Rhodes, and Frainy Prinimen, formerly Rhodes,
and Ann Strickler, formerly Rhodes, at the time of said vandoe, and the
remainder part of the price of said plantation to be paid in sale as
follows; that is to say, seventy-five pounds in one year after the
vandoe, and the same sum of seventy-five pounds yearly every year until
the whole be paid, which I give and bequeath in the following manner;
that is to say, the first seventy-five pounds to be equally divided
between Christian Rhode and Anthony Rhode, Jr., the second payment of
seventy-five pounds to be divided equally between Madlene Coulp,
formerly Rhode, and Frederick Rhode, and Elizabeth Rhode, and the third
payment of seventy-five pounds to be paid unto my two forementioned
sons Christian and Anthony, and the fourth payment of seventy-five
pounds to be paid unto my forementioned daughter Madlene's son
Frederick and daughter ----, the fifth payment of seventy-five pounds
and all ---- to more, is to be equally divided among my above named
children at the time of payment of each sums or to their heirs and
executors, administrators or assigns by my executors hereafter named
and likewise every other sum herein mentioned as above described.

Itim:  I likewise will and bequeath unto my son Anthony five pounds
besides what is already mentioned.

Itim:  I do likewise constitute and ordain this my well esteemed friend
