David Samuelsen August 2001 http://www.rootsweb/ *********************************************************************** I, Levi Aldrich of Smithfield, in the County of Providence, State of Rhode Island &tc, yeoman being of a sound and disposing mind & memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, my body I give to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and touching such temporal estate as I have been far blessed with in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner viz: I give and bequeath to Penelope Aldrich my wife all my household, furniture, excepting my desk on condition that she the said Penelope shall give up & acquit her right of dower and power of thirds in my estate whenever she shall by intermarriage cease to be my widow. I give and bequeath to my brother Reuben Aldrich ten acres of wood land butted and bounded as follows, beginig at a stake & stones at the northeast corne rof the land of Caleb Aldrich & in the line between my land and the land of the heirs of Nehemiah Sprague, decesd, then runing northerly with sd. Sprague's land till it comes to the Pine Swamp then westerly in aparellel line with the line between my land and the said Caleb Aldrich's land till it comprehends the above sd ten acres to him the said Reuben his heirs & assigns forever. I give to my brother Nathan Aldrich one dollar. I give to my sisters, viz: Hannah Comstock, Unie [sic Eunice] Mowry, Ruth Hamilton & Patience Aldrich one dollar each. I give and bequeath to my reputed son Amasa Aldrich was born of the body of Kezia Bassett all the remainder of my real estate and also the remainder of said wife's thirds to herever. She shall acquit said right as aforesaid to him his heirs & assigns forever on condition hereafter specified, and my will is that all my personal estate that I have not given away be appropriated to pay my funeral charges and my just debts and my will further is that the residue of my debts be paid by the aforesaid Amasa Aldrich in confirmation of the real estate I have given him and my will further is that in case the said Amasa Aldrich should die without lawful issue then my will is that all the real estate I have given him shold be equally divided between my two brothers Nathan Aldrich and Reuben Aldrich to them their heirs & assigns forever. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my said Brother Reuben Aldrich sole Executor to this my last will and testament revoking all others by me heretofore made. In witness and confirmation whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this twenty ninth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine and 23rd of American Independence. Penelope Aldrich and Nathan Aldrich as Administrators with the will annexed presented the same for probate.
