Martin married Mary Ann Elvira Tribble, daughter of S.M. Tribble and Ann Webster, on 19 Dec 1872. B.J. Martin died on 7 May 1910 in Donalds, Abbeville Co., South Carolina. He and his wife are buried in the Donalds Baptist Church Cemetery, Donalds, Abbeville Co., South Carolina. He served as Private in Co. I, 19 SC Rifles, Manigault's Brig., Inf. Volunteers during the Civil War. He also served as first rural mail carrier in Donalds area of Abbeville County, South Carolina. Bible is in possession of Martin Graves, great grandson of Benjamin Jasper Martin. Individual entries' dates and authors are not given in bible. The book was published by A.J. Holman & Co., No 1222 Arch Street, Philadelphia, and is dated 1889. In the rear of the book is a section to enter photographs, but does not contain pictures. The bible also contains a "Temperance Pledge" page for family members to sign. The bible contains many entries, many being event records but some being family historical information of prior generations. The information will be presented here in the order it appears in the book.
