KELLER of this District. ------- ABBEVILLE SHERIFF'S SALE for March 1847 By virtue of sundry Writs of Fieri Facias to me directed, the following property will be sold at the Abbeville Court House on the first Monday in March, next: 1 tract of land in the district aforesaid, bounded by the Hon. D.L. WARDLAW on Little River, T.P. HUGER, Wm. H. McCAW and Edmond TILMAN, containing 1583 acres, more or less. This land will be sold in four separate tracts. Also, about 30 negroes amongst which are Carpenters, a good Blacksmith, a good House Servant and several prime Field Hands. 5 negroes, Eben, Sam, Jim, Adaline and Betsey; 2 wagons, 1 ox cart, 1 carry log, 3 oxen, 2 horses, levied on as the property of B. M. McFARLIN, will be sold on Friday the 5th of March next. CHEATHAM has applied to grant her Letters of Administration on the estate of her dec'd husband, Milton CHEATHAM. Rice. ------- OBITUARY DIED, on the 20th of February at the residence of her husband Mr. Thomas J. DOUGLASS, Mrs. Matilda Dilwith DOUGLASS, in the 34th year of her age. H.A. Jones, Court of Equity, Abbeville District, Commissioner's Office, March 6, 1847 --------- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, MARCH 31, 1847 MURDER OF Dr. A. BURT The Augusta Sentinel of yesterday says: " A most aggravated murder we regret to learn, was committed upon Dr. A. BURT of Edgefield district, S.C., who resided some ten or fifteen miles above Hamburg, by one of his own negroes, yesterday morning. The circumstances as related to us are these: The Dr. attempted to chastise him for which purpose he had broken off the branch of a peach tree, with which he inflicted a few stripes, when the negro seized an axe and almost instantly killed him, notwithstanding the Dr.'s attempted escape. The negro was arrested and is in custody. -------- MARRIAGES Married on Thursday evening the 25th inst., by Rev. Henry Bass, Mr. Andrew A. McCORD to Miss Mary E. SPEER, all of this district. -------- FOR SALE Intending to leave the district this Fall, I offer for sale my Plantation, lying three miles south of Abbeville court house, containing two hundred and eighty acres, of which there is about one half cleared and in a fine state of cultivation. It is as good Cotton land as the district affords. Also, three and a half acres lying two miles below the court house, a fine dwelling house and lot with out buildings, all new, a very desirable situation about one mile from my plantation. Also my house and lot in the town of Abbeville, situated on the Public Square, a large two story house with nine rooms and six fireplaces, and all of the out buildings new. Persons wishing to buy land or village property would do well to call and see me before purchasing elsewhere. Johnson RAMEY, Abbeville, March 28, 1847. --------- ESTRAY NOTICE Tarlton P. MOSLEY brought before me an Estray, a Large Bay Horse, about sixteen hands high, fifteen years old; no brands or marks and appraised at fifteen dollars. The owner will find the horse in the possession of Mr. Mosley at his place. Thos. Thomson, Magistrate, Abbeville District, March 22, 1847 ------- NOTICE TO ABSENT HEIRS Alfred MOUNCE, Willis MOUNCE, and Michael LOWERY and Nancy his wife who reside without the limits of this State are Distributees of W.D.
