MABRY and John W. MABRY, both deceased, will present their demands on Thursday, the 28th of April next, in the Court of Ordinary at Abbeville District at the Abbeville courthouse, for settlement. McSWAIN and Jesse McSWAIN Bill to Apply Funds It appearing that William R. McSWAIN, one of the defendants, resides beyond the limits of the State of South Carolina. March 1, 1853 --------- MORGAN HORSE This beautiful and high bred horse was purchased by me when a colt of Calvin Blodgett of Vermont, at a considerable expense. He is now four years old and will make the Spring Season at my plantation three miles below Cambridge and at Greenwood. He is a beautiful mahogany bay, fifteen and a half hands high, and was sired by the old Gifford Morgan and his dam a full blooded Morgan mare, and in his general form he posseses to a remarkable degree the most important requisite in a stallion, compactness. In his temper and spirit he exhibits the intelligence and docility which characterizes most of the Morgan horses. For further particulars, see James CRESSWELL. Jan. 6, 1853 ----------- NEWSPAPER Issue of Thursday, APRIL 14, 1853 OBITUARIES DIED, on the 6th of February at the house of her daughter Mrs. Susannah Brooks near Warrenton, Abbeville, Mrs. Francis BOYD, relic of John BOYD, aged about 80 years. Mrs. BOYD was a native of Virginia. DIED, on the morning of the 3rd of April, near Barnes' Mill, Mr. Andrew GILLESPIE Jr. in the 63rd year of his age, leaving a wife and four daughters to mourn his loss. --------- NOTICE All persons having demands against the estate of Ann GOFF, deceased, are hereby notified and required to present and prove their demands before the Commissioner of the Court of Equity on the first day of June next. WILSON, Administrator, April 12, 1853 ------- STOP THE ROGUE Taken from my residence on Sunday night the 6th of March, a detached, lever watch, french gold, made by Duchene Peyrot and numbered No. 68277, Geneva. The watch is supoosed to have been taken by a man who stopped at night with me at the time it is supposed to have been taken. The said individual called himself Mr. Morris while at my house, but I have since ascertained that his real name is Bud LAY. Said LAY has recently been a citizen of Cobb county, Georgia but I believe that he is now on his way to York District, where he originally emigrated from. He is about five feet ten inches high, dark straight hair, dark skin. At the time he was with me, he wore a moustache without any other beard and had on a plush cap, dark cussimere coat, gray pants and no vest and wore a gold watch and chain, with three gold rings on his fingers. He professed to be a tobacconist. He is a much sharper man than he would pass for and persons encountering him had best be on their guard. A liberal reward will be paid for the delivery of the watch and the detection of the thief, or for sufficient information to secure a conviction. B.D. KAY, Lowndesville, S.C., April 7, 1853 ---------- EXECUTOR'S NOTICE All persons indebted to the estate of Lucy LOMAX, deceased, late of Abbeville District, are requested to make immediate payment or renew their bonds; those having demands against said estate are notified to present them for payment, duly authenticated. W.G. LOMAX, Administrator, April 16, 1853 --------- RUNAWAY Ranaway, two boys belonging to Col. H.C. CABLE; one named WILLIAM. He has a tolerably heavy beard, is 23 years of age, rather yellow complexion, about 5 feet 10 inches high, weighs near 160 pounds and stammers while speaking. He had on when he left a common suit, the coat rather upon the sack order. He is quite intelligent. The other is EDMUND, who has no beard. In complexion and height is similar to William, though not quite so heavy. Rather more inteligent and when spoken to, answers quickly. Edmund is a pretty good fiddler. Any person who will deliver them to Nathaniel JEFFRIES on Col. Cable's plantation near Island Ford, Little River, 11 miles west of Abbeville court house, or confine them in any jail within this or any other state, shall be suitably rewarded. REWARD Ranaway from the subscriber on the night of the 24th of December last, a negro fellow named HUDSON. He is about 5 feet 7 inches high and weighs about 160 pounds. He was brought to the State from Abbeville District, South Carolina and has recently been seen in said district. He is of dark complexion, has good teeth and speaks very slowly. Dr. L. Yarbrough of the above district owns his wife and I have no doubt but that he is in that neighborhood. I will give the reward if he is taken up and lodged in jail so I can get him. D.G. REWARD Ranaway from the subscriber about eight miles east of this place, a negro boy named MOSES, about 30 years old, stoutly built, five feet eight or ten inches high, long hair and very black. He had on when he left a blue cloth coat and light checked pantaloons. He was raised in Prince William's county, Virginia and was bought about a month ago in Richmond, and is supposed to be making his way to that place. The above reward will be given to any person for the apprehension and confinement of the said boy. Whoever apprehends him is requested to correspond with Anderson WILLIS at Yancyville, Caswell county, N.C. or with Henry WILLIS at Benton, Lowndes county, Alabama.
