BETHUNE of the Corner Stone, who exhibits the most wonderful capacity for music and is able to play almost any piece, even the most difficult, on the piano after hearing it only once or twice. He has never been instructed in music; the knowledge of the science is therefore, instinctive. He has the most intense passion for music and exhibits the greatest emotion during his performance. We have never seen so wonderful a musical prodigy before." ------------ SHOCKING AFFAIR From "The Atlanta Republic": A son of Col. A.W. HAMMOND of this city, came to his death in a most shocking manner on Tuesday morning last. We understand the circumstances to be these: It seems that he had by some means gotton on the track of the Macon and Western Railroad, near a mile from the Depot, when the engine attached to the passenger train, which left the Depot at a quarter past five, smashed him up on the cow catcher and it was not discovered until the train reached East Point, some six miles from this city. His body was dreadfully mangled. ---------- MARRIAGES Married on the 18th of December 1855, by Rev. Joseph Gibert, Mr. J.P. NIXON of Edgefield District, S.C. to Miss E.C.
