South Carolina, Abbeville District. In the name of God Amen I Robert H. Meriwether of said district, being weak in body but of sound mind, do ordain and establish the following as my last will and testament. It is my Will and desire that the proceeds of my crop be appropriated to the payment of my Just debts; in case said crop should prove insufficient, it is my Will and desire/ It is my will that a portion of my personal property be sold for that purpose./ that my Wife Martha Meriwether have absolutely all the household and kitchen furniture. It is my Will that all my estate with the above exception, be divided equally between my wife Martha and my children Frances Ann & Martha Elizabeth, share and share alike it is my Will, that / the / the whole estate real and personal, remain together for the use and support of my family, until my oldest child marries or comes of age; except the share which is hereby bequeathed to my wife, who is at liberty at any time after payment of my debts to separate her said share from the residue of my estate; in which event her interest ceases on the plantation. I hereby Nominate and appoint my wife Martha and my brother William and Thomas Meriwether, Executors of this my last will and testament. Signed and sealed in the presence of us, who have hereby in presence of one and other and in the presence of the Testator signed our names as Witnesses this 30th day of December eighteen hundred and twenty seven.
