Contributed to The SCGenWeb Archives by: Alan 29 Apr 2001 ---------------------------------------- Broken Stones (Aiken County, Valcluse, South Carolina) Travel to the intersection of Highway 19 and Valcluse road, turn right for approx. 1 mile. On the right is a small pile of debris, just inside a fenced-in field. It appears the stones, stone foundations, a fence gate and stone fence posts were pushed into a pile, with other debris, such as roots, dirt and stumps. Unfortunately, there is very little written on the remaining, broken stones. The only discernable information is: One piece: Cullin* Ann .... daughter of Wiliam P** .... 2nd piece: parted Dec 4 1825 aged 57 ye... 3rd piece: Unreadable (older). MAY be an epitaph for one of the above. None of the three stones line up, and appears to be from separate gravestones. Other broken stones had no discernable writing on them, nor line up properly with those above. *May be spelled Cullen ** May be a "B" instead of a "P" **************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
