The articles taken consist of watches, chains, rings, breast pins and a pistol. Suspicion vested upon two young negros, Mose Richardson and Ben Badger. They were shadowed by Town Marshal James Wingard, who having traced one of the watches and pistol to Mose arrested and took him to the town guard house where Ben followed and on entering the entryway was seized and locked up as a confederate. Finding it was no use to deny the fact they confessed to having committed the robbery. Mose says Ben entered the window and handed out the box containing the goods, a part of which, some valuable jewelry belonging to a citizen of the town, and was in the establishment for repairs, was found in possession of a colored woman, Hagor Johnson, supposed to be an innocent purchaser. All the plunder has been recovered and the parties committed to jail to await trial at the coming term of court.
