On the 29th of March Daniel Hickson, living on Tinker's Creek, in the lower edge of this county, was burned to death. Suspicion of foul play rested upon Tilda, his wife, and Jacob Harris, his stepson, and they were both arrested on a warrant issued by Trial Justice T.W. Keenan, and a preliminary examination was held before him at Windsor on Saturday last, 14th inst. The defendants were represented by W.Q. Davis, Esq., of Aiken, and Jas. E. Davis, Esq., of the Barnwell Bar. O.C. Jordan, Esq., of Aiken, appeared for the State. After a careful investigation of the case, followed by argument of counsel, both defendants were discharged for want of probable cause.
