The Aiken Recorder 29 January 1884
A Sad Death.

Seldom does it fall to our lot to record a more melancholy death than that of Mrs. 
Mary Oakley, wife of our esteemed fellow-citizen, A.W. Oakley, who breathed her 
last on Friday, 25th January, leaving a devoted husband and four little children, 
one only three days old, to mourn her loss. She was buried on Saturday last at the 
Baptist Church cemetery, the Rev. Lucius Cuthbert performing the last sad rites. 
The sympathy of a large circle of relatives and friends are deeply enlisted by the 
death of this beloved and interesting young wife.
