The most attrocious murder was committed on the 5th inst., at Athens, Ga. Walter 
Rountree, a student of the State University, was the victim, and two negroes, 
Johnson and Echols, were the slayers. It was a most brutal and dastardly act and 
caused great excitement. The people of Athens deserve great credit for their 
forbearance, but their police force should be strengthened, and the negroes made 
more orderly.
