The Aiken Recorder 23 March 1886
"Old Sorrell," Gen. Stonewall Jackson's war horse died at the Confederate Soldiers 
Home in Richmond on Monday evening March 15th. Many of the old veterans shed tears 
at the death of this faithful servant of one of the purest patriots and greatest 
generals of modern times. The services of a skillful taxidermist have been called 
into requisition and the skin will be stuffed and mounted in the compicuous 
position at the Soldiers Home.
