From the Yorkville Enquirer. On Thursday last, Mr. W.T. Williford, who lived near Thorne's Ferry, committed suicide by swallowing laudanum. On that morning he went to the field to low, and at about 9 o'clock returned to the house, and, according to his ante-mortem statement, took from the mantel a vial of laudanum and swallowed the contents - about an ounce and a half. Soon after taking the fatal dose, he called his wife and complained of feeling sick, told her what he had done. She immediately summoned a physician -Dr. Carouthers- who arrived in due time, but the unfortunate man was beyond the reach of medical skill, though every effort was made to counteract the effect of the poison. Mr. Williford was in town on Sale- day, and those who saw him then say that he was cheerful and buovant. He was in comfortable circumstances, having plenty around him, in the prime of life, and no reason is given for the commission of the rash act.
