The Aiken Recorder 9 March 1886
Married, at Aiken, S.C., on Wednesday, March 3, 1886, at 9:30 a.m., at the 
residence of Major Jas. E. Crosland, the father of the bride, by the Rev. W.D. 
Oliver, Mr. A.W. Jones, of Hephzibah, Ga., to Miss Hattie Crosland, of Aiken, 
S.C.

The marriage ceremony was performed according to the simple and appropriate 
service of the "Christian Church," and was witnessed by a gathering of about 
fifty relatives and friends. The bride received quite a number of handsome 
presents, embracing articles of beautiful silverware. After receiving the 
congratulations of their friends partaking of the handsome coalition spread for 
the marriage guests, the happy couple embarked on the 10:30 a.m. train, of the 
South Carolina Railroad for Atlanta, Ga., from whence they will visit New 
Orleans.
