The following history information was taken from the Inventory of Church Archives of Churches 1935. By: E.E. Vaughn Bethel Methodist Williamston, Main Street Organized 1881 1st used Log structure from 1881 - 1890. Built 1890. Wooden frame 35 X 50 feet. Triangular shaped to doors & windows, bell and belfry. Value $900, total value of all property $2450. First known settled clergy Rev. J. R. Roseman, tenure 1881 - 1882. This church was nurtured by the influences of the Lander family (white). Dr. W. T. Lander (white) was superintendent of the Sunday School for 2 years 1881 - 1883. Jim? Whitter (white) of Richland County, SC gave then an acre of land upon which to erect their first meeting house.
