The following history information was taken from the Inventory of Church Archives of Churches 1935. By: E.E. Vaughn Rock Hill Bapt. 5 mi. SW of Anderson, SC Organized 1884 1st small wooden frame about 2? miles E. of present site, 1884 - 1893; 2nd wooden frame at present site 1893 - 1906 (destroyed by storm). Built 1906 and dedicated 1909. Wooden frame 34 X 48, bell and belfry. Capacity 275, value of building $2750, value of land $250, total value of church property $3000.00. First settled clergy Rev. Perry Thompson, tenure 1884 - 1886. Charter members unknown, present membership 150. This church is named after the Rock hill near which it was organized. The members felt the need of a church of this denomination in this community.
