I am told it is the original site of the First Creek Baptist Church; I am also told that my gggrandfather was pastor at one time but have been unable to confirm that (Harbert Tucker). by: Joann Tucker Broadhead at sl-joann@juno.com o----------o From: sl-joann@juno.com Sent: Monday, January 15, 2007 10:10 AM In the Anderson County library in Anderson, S.C. there is a book of records from the files of B. S. Mitchell, Honea Path, S.C. 1971 a number stamped on the front is 262086 A notation: Banister, DeJarnette, Kay, Latimer, Mitchell, Pearman, Pruitt, Tucker, & Allied Families of Virginia, and South Carolina B 225 410 page 7-8 about Frances DeJarnette Tucker and the site of her grave. Soldier says: Here Lyeth the body of Fanny Tucker wife of Hebert Tucker who departed this life Feb. 9, anno domino 1805 Age 37 Footsone says: and I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, Blessed are the dead that died in the Lord henceforth saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them A few steps away, there is a stone for her nephew, son of her sister Nancy and Edward Davis. His inscription is in the same style, evidently by the same person. "Here lyth the body of Reuben DeJarnette Davis who departed this life 19 day of Dec. 1804 was born the 7 day of Sept. 1804 aged 3 months and 22 days" Harbert Tucker's first wife (I am descended from the second wife) was Frances DeJarnette. She is buried in this old cemetery where there are a few other stones but seem to be lots of graves. Frances died in 1804 (9-feb-1805?) and has a head stone and foot stone with beautiful square engraving on both. In 1999 at the genealogy library in Bartow, Fl., I found a book "Anderson Co., Cemeteries, Vol. 1" by R. Wayne Bratcher, page 48 listing Fanny Tucker, w/o Herbert Tucker buried at private cemetery in Iva, S.C. by: Joann Tucker Broadhead at sl-joann@juno.com
