State of South Carolina, Pendleton District. 

Know all men by these presents that we William Elrod, Samuel Maloney and Robert 
S. Adair are held and firmly bound to Adam Huffman his heirs and assigns in the 
sum of two thousand dollars lawful money for when payment well and truly to be 
made we and each of us hereby bind ourselves our heirs executors and 
administrators jointly and separately firmly by these presents sealed with our 
seals dated this 4 Oct 1822. 

The condition of the above obligation is such as follow: whereas the above named 
William Elrod, Samuel Maloney and Robert S. Adair & Adam Huffman are the only 
heirs or legal legatees of the estate of Elizabeth Adair, Desc. And the said 
Adam Huffman being absent, the other named legatees have agreed mutually to 
divide the said estate equally between them, now therefore if the said Adam 
Huffman his heirs or assigns should ever attend and demand his legal dividend 
and receive it of each and every of the above names their proportioned part 
thereof then this obligation shall peace and determine, but on his demanding and 
they refusing to pay the same them this obligation shall be and remain in full 
force and (something) in law.
