Alfred "Legare" Hanks, 68 of Ocala, Fl. died July 17, 2007 at Shands at the University of Florida. Born in Belton, S.C. He was a resident of Tampa for over 35 years and retired to Ocala in 1998. Mr. Hanks was co-owner of Furniture Source for over 15 years. He graduated from Clemson University and Ringling School of Arts. A member of the Kiwanis Club and the First Baptist Club of Ocala, Fl., an accomplished pianist and played for The Prodigal Sons gospel quartet. Survivors: His Wife, Elsie Hanks; Daughter, Teresa Hanks; Son, Eric Hanks and Wife, Susan; Granddaughters, Abigail and Madeline Hanks all of Ocala; and Sister, Jo LeRoy of Columbia, S.C. Preceded in death by His Parents, Alfred and Gertrude Hanks and Sister, Marlene Oberlies. Memorial services 2 pm. Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Hiers Funeral Home, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd.,Ocala, Fl. Donations may be made to the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center for pancreatic research in memory of Alfred Legare Hanks, P.O. Box 103633, Gainesville, Fl. 32610-1633.
