Rule 3 That one officer and three male members shall be a quorum to transact business. Rule 4 All matters debated shall be decided by a majority. Rule 5 A member speaking to any subject shall distinguish himself by rising up and addressing the minister or moderator and if two should rise at a time, he shall determine which shall speak first and no member shall speak more than twice to the same subject only to explain. Rule 6 When any member is speaking to any subject the rest shall keep profound silence or be deemed disorderly. Rule 7 Any male member failing to attend a church meeting shall come forward at the next and shew the reason and if he should fail three times he shall be dealt with as a neglecter of duty. Rule 8 If any female member should fail three church meetings the cause shall be inquired into and if found to be willful. Neglect of duty shall be dealt with accordingly. Rule 9 If any member shall neglect or refuse to partake of the Lord's supper he shall shew the reason at that time to the officers or to the church at their next meeting. Rule 10 The members of colour shall be dealt with accordingly to their neglect of or want of opportunity at the discretion of the church. Rule 11 Any member that has fought against and they shall be liable to censure if they should mention the same to another before they have in love laboured with the offending member as the gospel plainly directs. Rule 12 A regular list shall be kept by the clerk of the names of the members of the church and brought forward every church disciplining day that defaulters may be known. Rule 13 All members should keep their seats in time of conference except leave from the moderator. Rule 14 Any member of this church who shall retail ardent spirits shall be deemed disorderly and shall be dealt with as such.Rule 15 Resolved, that the male members of this church do contribute something annually to keep up a church fund to be disposed of by the choice of the church George A Dyches, treasurer. Shall be required that each member of this church male and female, white and coloured members shall promptly pay one dollar annually and as much more as they choose for a church fund to be used for paying a minister and other expenses as the church may direct. The money to be promptly paid by Saturday before the second Sabbath in December in each year supplying. And it shall be the duty of the deacons to collect the money from each member and pay it over to the treasurer who shall be elected by a vote of the church in the first part of each year. And it shall be the duty of the treasurer to keep a book and make a report of the money received, paid out and kept on hand quarterly in each year. And he shall pay out the money only as directed by the church. He may be allowed One dollar a year to pay for paper or books. Rule 16 Resolve that a common school shall not be taught in this church without the consent of the church in her conference. Having no preaching, Brother James Still prayed at which time we opened a door for the reception of members at which time there were four received. Two candidates for baptism namely Frances Abstent and Elizabeth Abstent. And brother Thomas Still and brother Edmund Bird restored. First proceeded to the call of a preacher to supply us the insuing year. Brother John Brooker being called by a majority. The call was voted and received. Second, proceeded to grant by request our sister Mary Elkins, wife of Levi Elkins a letter of dismission which was granted. The clerk being authorized to write the letter and forward the same. Third, proceeded to make some preparations to relieve the necessities of our sister, Delilah Whaley which was done and we dismissed as usual. George A Dyches, clerk. He not being present, it was laid over until our next meeting. Second, taken up the case of brother William Abstent Jr. It was laid over until our next meeting. A committee being appointed to labour with the offending brother, namely brother James Still and brother R Chitty. having nothing more to come before the church we closed in the usual way. Met in conference Saturday before the first Lords day in February, 1844. After preaching by Brother J Brooker the church proceeded to business. First took up the case of brother J Welch. He making satisfaction was again restored to fellowship again. Second took up the case of brother Abstent Jr. and it was still continued until our next meeting. The committee, brother J Still and brother R Chitty still continue to labour with him and in conjunction, brother Isaac H Still is added. Third took up the case of brother C Still for disorder. His case also laid over until our next meeting and appointed a committee to labour with him namely John Brooker and Kindred Delk. After preaching by brother J Brooker the church proceeded to business. First took up the case of brother Abstent again and still continued it again until our next meeting. In the committee appointed to labour with him return an unfavourable report about which the church thought proper to excommunicate him which was done. Second taken in consideration the case of brother Altman Dyches which have been moved away for a letter of dismission. The church agreed to write to brother to request him to get the church which he wishes to join to join him in his petition as we don't know what his conduct might have been since he left here. Having nothing to come before the church, being a request by a coloured sister living in the Alabama State for a letter of dismission. Extra, Brother Jacob Shipes was restored to fellowship on Saturday, Sept. 1848 and brother Samuel Stille restored on the Sunday following. First brother John Rowel requested a letter of dismission, a committee was appointed to wait on sister Rowel, namely J L Still, Jacob Delk, John F Chitty and Robert Chitty. Appointed brother R Chitty , clerk and J F Chitty, treasurer. Agreed unanimously to give our beloved and worldly brother John Brooker a call to attend us this year and appoint brother Robert Chitty to extend the call. Took the case of brother and sister Rowel and it was laid over until our next meeting and the same committee to remain and closed in the usual way.R Chitty, clk. March the 10th 1849 Saturday before the second Sunday. Met in conference, held a prayer meeting in the forenoon. After preaching by brother John Brooker the church proceeded to business. A committee appointed to work on brother Jacob Whaley namely, J Delk and D Shipes. Also William Nix, W Ross and E Miles. August the 11th 1849 Met in conference after reading, singing and prayer, the minutes were read and proceeded to business. First took up the case of brother Jacob Whaley and excused him. Second took up the case of brother Wm Nix and for not attendance continued his case and the same committee to wait on him. Third took up the case of brother William Abston and excused him. Fourth took up the case of brother Dan'l Blume and he was excused. Fifth Sister Ann Kirkland came forward and on account of her long absence was on account of her long distance and not for any other cause and would have applied sooner but did not wish to leave us and that she hated to leave the church, her old home and granted her a letter. Took up a case against brother Henry Free and the clerk to have a letter and send him to know what was his wish or standing where he lives. Also the case of brother Thomas Still for neglect of duty and that the clerk write a letter requesting him to come and shew his cause for neglect of duty and closed the usual way. R Chitty, clk. September the 8th 1849 After preaching by brother Walker, met in conference Saturday before the second Lords day in September. And continued the cases of brethren Free, Nix and Still. They want continued till our next meeting. The Association letter was read and approved and appointed R Chitty, John F Chitty and Henry K Delk and in case of absence William Allen, Wesley J Chitty, Joseph Brooker and agreed to send two dollars for minutes and closed in the usual way.R Chitty, Clk October the 13th of September 1849 Met in conference after preaching by brother Brooker the church proceeded to business. Brother Thomas Still came forward and gave satisfaction for his long absence. The case of brother Free was continued. The case of brother William Nix and his case was continued and the same committee to wait on him. The case of brother Henry Free was continued. The church proceeded to the call of a minister to preach this year and agreed to call brother J Brooker and received his promise for the next year. A door was opened to receive members and restored brother John Rowel into the fellowship in the church. January the 12th 1850 Met in conference after preaching by our beloved brother John Brooker. A door was opened for the reception. of members, no reception. First the case of brother B Carroll and the church thought proper and he was excommunicated. The case of brother H Free was dismissed and closed in the usual way R Chitty, clk. March the 9th 1850 Saturday met in conference after singing and prayer. A door was opened, brother and sister Samuel and Sarah Williams presented a letter of dismission from the Barnwell Church. On application, letters were granted sisters Margaret Carmel and Susannah Creech to join Friendship. Nothing more coming before the church, dismissed in order. R Chitty,clk. April the 13th 1850 Saturday met in conference after singing, prayer and preaching by brother N Walker a door was opened and received our beloved sister Elizabeth Chitty as a member in this church. Second took up the case of sister Elizabeth Burt for immoral conduct and the church thought proper and excluded her from the church. Third took up the case of brother Henry Free for long absence and immoral conduct. Thought proper and excluded him from the church and closed in the usual way. R Chitty, clk. Took up a case of brother Jacob Delk for an affair with Kindred Delk and the case was dismissed in fellowship and a door was opened for the reception of members and received W R Chitty and Pruscilla C Delk as candidates for baptism and on the Sabbath the next day was baptized and closed in the usual way. July the 13th 1850 Met in conference Saturday before the second Lords day in July. After reading, singing and prayer a door was opened, had nothing for the action of the church. Closed in the usual way. R Chitty, clk. August the 10th 1850 Saturday before the second Lords day in August. Preaching by brother Wm Brooker after which an invitation for the reception of members. John Broom and Jesse Joiner came forward themselves and were received as candidates for baptism. In conference, the case of brother Jacob Whaley was taken up and referred to a committee of eight, namely S Still, A Caroll, G Dyches, J Chitty, Wm Ross, S Williams, E Whaley, J Delk, E Miles, G Nevils, J Brooker. The committee reported the case as excluded which was agreed to by the church. Delegated brethren John Brooker, James Stille and John Chitty. Alternates, G Dyches, J Delk and Wm Chitty and closed in the usual way. September the 7th 1850 Met in conference after preaching by brother John Brooker. The church proceeded to business. A door was opened and received three candidates for baptism, namely Wiett Lancaster, Elizabeth Lancaster and William Gillam. We had no action for the church. Read and approved the Association letter and closed in the usual way. Then received Lucy Templeton and on the Sabbath the next day received two others, namely Daniel Bodiford and Orie Carroll. October the 12th 1850 Met in conference after preaching by brother John Brooker. A door was opened and received sister Martha Shipes as a candidate for baptism and restored our brother Charley Still. Having nothing for the action of the church we closed in the usual way. R Chitty, clk. And Sunday the next day, received sister Julia Lancaster. Saturday the 7th of December 1850 Met in conference had preaching by brother J Brooker. Had nothing on our minutes. First took up the case of brother Benjamin Carroll for drunkness and aquitted him and close in the usual way. R Chitty, clk. January the 11th 1851 Met in conference after preaching by brother John Brooker the church proceeded to business and had nothing on record. First took up the case of brethren A Carroll and B Carroll and the case was taken up and continued till our next meeting and a committee of brethren, John Brooker Sr., Jas. L Still, John F Chitty, William Ross, Edward Miles and Sam'l Williams and David Shipes to wait on the brethren and a black brother named Billy applied for a letter of dismission and it was granted and closed in the usual way. R Chitty, clk. February the 8th 1851 After singing and preaching and prayer by brother John Brooker the church proceeded to business. Took up the case of the brother Carrolls and the committee gave a favorable report and they was restored to fellowship again in the church. A resolution was agreed to that any person going about shooting and drinking and frolicking shall be liable to be delt with as an offender of their duty. A case was taken up agaainst brother Gillam for immoral conduct and appointed a committee to cite the brother to attend at our next meeting, namely brother J L Still and closed in the usual way. R Chitty, clk March the 8th 1851 Met in conference after preaching by brother J Brooker. The case of brother Gillam was taken up and ahe was aquitted. Second a case was taken up against brother Benjamin Carroll for drunkeness and his case was continued till our next meeting. Third a case was taken up for long absence against brother William Abstance Sr. and a commitee, namely J F Chitty, William R Chitty and Wyet Lancaster to cite him to attend and show the cause. Fourth a case against brother Jesse Joiner for sueing brother William Gillam and his case stand over till our next and brother Lancaster a committee to cite the brother to attend at our next meeting. Fifth went into the election of a deacon to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of our brother Daniel McClendon and elected our brother, John F Chitty and closed in the usual way. April the 14th 1851 Met in conference after preaching by brother John Brooker. The church proceeded to business. A door was opened and received Martain J Chitty as a candidate for baptism. Second, took up the case of brother Benjamin Carroll and excluded him from the church. Third, took up the case of brother William Abston for neglect and continued his case. Fourth, took up the case of brother Jesse Joiner and restored him to fellowship again and closed in the usual way R Chitty, clk. The case of Sister Elenor McKenzie for immoral conduct was taken up and she was expelled from the church.May the 10th 1851 Met in conference, had no supply. The business of the church was opened by reading, singing and prayer. The church proceeded to business. Took up the case of brother William Abstence Sr. for immoral conduct and excluded him from the church. Second, the case of sister Lucinda Morris for intempuated conduct and she was excluded from the church. Third the church thought proper and appointed brother Joseph Brooker, clerk, protem or as assistant clerk and closed in the usual way. R Chitty, clk. June the 7th 1851 Met in conference after singing, preaching and prayer by brother J Brooker. The church proceeded to business. Had nothing on our minutes. First, took up the case of brother William Allen for immoral conduct and profane swearing. His case was continued till our next meeting and a committee namely J Delk and D Bodiford to cite him to attend. Having nothing more, closed in the usual way. R Chitty, clk. Took up the case of brother Wm Allen and the church thought proper and excluded him from the church. Fourth, entered into a resolution that a committee be appointed to attend to the elder members of this church, namely brethren, G A Dyches, J F Chitty, W C Chitty, Edmund Whaley, JJ Brooker , Elhannon Templeton and J L Still and closed in the usual way. First took up the case of sister Christina Whaley for immoral conduct and she was excluded from the church. Second took up the case of brethren Miles and Nix and a committee appointed, namely W Ross and J L Still to cite the brethren to attend our next meeting. Then went into a call for a preacher to supply us the ensuing year and they unanimously called our worthy and esteemed brother John Brooker to his pastorship of the church and closed in our usual way. First took up the case of brethren Miles and Nix and the case was continued till our next discipline. Second the case of brother Orie Carroll for non attendance at church and appointed a committee, namely J H Still and D Blume and closed in the usual way.
