The People October 18, 1877
Messers. E.R Allen and L.B. O'Brien, of Allendale, engaged in a personal 
altercation a few nights ago, which, it is reported, the latter was worsted. Mr. 
O'Brien then challenged Mr. Allen to fight a dual, which being promptly accepted, 
the two went to Augusta for the purpose of carrying out this intention. Arriving 
at Augusta both were arrested and placed under bonds to keep the peace.
