A celebration of her life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the New Seward Saloon, where family and friends will share memories, pictures and stories of her life. Call Hotel Seward at 1-907-224-2378 for details. Ms. Walters was born Aug. 1, 1958, in Beaufort, S.C., to Lawrence and Mary Jane Thomas. The family moved to Anchorage when she was 11 after her father was assigned to duty at Elmendorf Air Force Base. She graduated from Bartlett High School and attended the University of Alaska Anchorage. She worked at the Hotel Seward as executive assistant and bookkeeper and at the New Seward Saloon as an assistant manager and bartender. Her family wrote: "She was known and loved by many. "Ms. Walters most enjoyed time spent with her children. She had a love for fishing, meeting new friends, riding snowmachines, gardening, traveling and outdoor activities. She derived great satisfaction from being able to help others in any way and at any time there was a need. She valued what she could give more than what she could receive from these actions. She was a giving person and would give the shoes from her feet or share the food from her plate. "She will be remembered most for her contagious smile that brightened the lives of loved ones, friends and acquaintances alike. She always maintained a cheerful attitude and special talent for making people feel comfortable and at ease. "True to her generous nature, she was an organ donor." Ms. Walters was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Thomas, and brother, Lawrence Thomas She is survived by her mother, Mary Jane Thomas of Anchorage, sons, Brandon and Colton of Eagle River; sister, Mary Thomas of Anchorage; brother, Ralph Thomas; and nephews, Russel and Derek Thomas of Anchorage; sister and spouse, Cheryl and John Bindle, and nephews, Travis and Jarrad Bendle of Chandler, Ariz.; sister and spouse, Linda and Joey Ehmann, and nephews, Mark and Carl, of Palmer.
