Book Title: The Old Jewish Cemeteries At Charleston, S. C.

  Adjoining the preceding portion of the burial ground, is the small private
cemetery of the Lopez family. Some objections being made to the burial of the
wife of Mr. David Lopez. She having been born a Christian and never having been
formally accepted into the Jewish faith, he purchased his own ground. This was
originally walled off from the cemetery, and had its own entrance. It is now a
part of the cemetery. Here are its inscriptions.

  Wife of David Lopez, who was born 30th June, 1814, 
and died 17th June, 1843, and of her infant son

            CHARLES HINTON LOPEZ,
  Who was born 27th January, 1842 and died 29th July 1843.

         Aged 2 months and 6 days.
