Mr. Few, delegate in congress from Georgia, to Miss Nicholson, daughter of commodore Nicholson, of this city." Additional Comments: Georgia became the fourth state to join the Union on January 2, 1788. One of Georgia's first senators was William Few. He took office on March 4, 1789. He had represented Georgia at the Constitutional Convention, being one of the signers of the Constitution. He married Catherine Nicholson, daughter of Commodore James Nicholson, an officer in the Continental Navy during the American Revolutionary War.
