C. In ye Name of God Amen ye twenty third Day of November & year of our Lord God on Thousand Six hundred Ninety Seven I Jonathan Amory of ye Province of Carolina Merch.t being weak in Body yet of Sound and Perfect Memory, praised be God do make this my Last Will &Testem.t in manner & form following (Vizt) First I Bequeath my Soul & Spirit into ye hands of almighty God my Heavenly Father & my Body to ye Earth to be buried at ye Discretion of my Executrix & my worldly Estate to be disposed of as follows I Give & Bequeath unto my Son Joseph Croskeys all ye Piece of Land that lyeth next ye Rattrapp wch was bought of Andrew Lawson & lyeth on ye Left hand of ye Broad path as you goe into ye Country to him & his assignes for ever. I likewise request my Executrix to make a Title to him of ye piece of Land which lyes next to my dwelling house which I gave to him with my Daughter I also give him my best Silver headed Cane. I give to Sarah Rhett daughter to Capt. Willm. Rhett ten Pounds pd. into ye hands of Mother to buy her a gould Chain I Give to Doctr. Atkin Williamson ten Pounds, I give unto Doctr. Thomas Todd ten Pounds, I give to ye Poor of Charles Town fifteen Pounds I Give & Bequeath to Thomas Noble Twenty Pounds I Give unto my Loveing Wife Martha my Dwelling house in charles Towne & all ye Land paled in about ye Same dureing her Natural Life and after her Death I Give, Grant & Devise ye sd House & Land to my Sons Thomas and Robert Amory & ye Survivours of them their Heirs & assigns for Ever, I Give and Bequeath unto my Sd Loveing Wife all her Wearing Apparell & all ye Plate and household goods belonging to my Sd Dwelling House I Give & Bequeath unto my Daughter, Sarah Amory Ye Sum of three hundreds Pounds & to my Daughter Ann ye Like Sum of three hundred Pounds, All ye rest and residue of my Estate both reall & prsonall in this World, I give grant & Devise to my Loveing Wife Martha and my two Sons Thomas & Robert Amorys to be equally Divided between Them Share & Share alike, I also Nominate and appoint my my Said Wife Martha Sole Executrix during her Life & after her Decease I Nominate and appoint my two Sons Thomas & Robert my Executors I Do also Impower and authorize my sd Executrix to Sell & Dispose forever all or any part of my real Estate Provided that the Shares of ye Money raised thereby be Secured to my Sons Behoofe In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal, day year & Place above Exprest.
