(Bill) Floyd (wdfloyd@rfci.net) March 31, 2000 ---------------------------------------- HODGIS CEMETERY Cherokee County, SC Lat. N 35 07 36 Long. W 81 43 35 By W. D. Floyd This small cemetery is located off the north side of Highway SC 11 between Gaffney and Chesnee, SC. Turn north on Mill Gin Road and go about 500 feet. Look to the northeast across the kudzu field and you will see some young pine trees. Follow along to the north of the pine trees and you will see a clump of big red oak trees jutting out from the rest of the woods and brush. The cemetery is in this clump. It is about 1000 feet off the road. there were probably 5-10 graves marked with field stones and nothing to read on them and the one grave with this huge three foot by five foot by 8 inches thick flat stone that was used to make a crypt for the one grave and chiseled out and barely readable was as listed below. I was there March 22, 2000.
