Wright, 2005 ************************************************ Will of John Kidd (Sr.) In the name of God; Amen, I JOHN KIDD of Fishing Creek Settlement, County of Chester and South Carolina: being weak in body but perfect mind and memory; Thanks be to God for it and calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. That is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul to the hands of God that my body be buried at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to Bless me in this life. I give, devise and dsipose of the same in the following manner and form: Second: I give and bequeath to JANE my Dearly Beloved Wife, one negro wench named Sall also one Sorrel Colt with a bald face, three years old last Spring, also her choice of two cows and calves from amongst my stock of cattle, as also her bedd and furniture with her pewter and two pots. She is also to have sufficient maintainance during her life of the Plantation, I now live on at the expense of my son JAMES KIDD and should it be her choice my son James shall furnish her with reasonable decent house for her own use, during her life.... Third: I give and bequeath to my son JOHN KIDD the two hundred acres of land whereon he now lives, being part of the tract of four hundred acres that I now live on... Fourth: I also give and bequeath to my daughter MARY WRITE (Wright), at the death of my said wife JANE, the negro wench Sall, first mentioned also one sow and lamb, but should my said daughter Mary Write not live to possess the said negro wench Sall, then I give and bequeath her to my Grandaughter JANE WRITE. Fifth: I also bequeath to my son ANDREW KIDD two sows. Sixth: I also bequeath to my daughter MARTHA DIRBEN the sum of five shillings of sterling. Seventh: I also give and bequeath to my son JAMES KIDD the tract of land whereon I now live containing two hundred acres together with all the remaining part of my Estate not all ready mentioned in this my Last Will, he is also to have the use of the said negro wench Sall in all other times of work in the field when it is possible for my said wife to spare her. Should said negro wench Sall have any increase before the death of my said wife then my said son JAMES KIDD is to have said increase..... Lastly: I do appoint my Beloved wife JANE and my son JAMES together with Edward Lacey to be my sole Executors of this my Last Will & Testament ..... I utterly revoke and disanul all former Will & Testaments by me made ratifying and confirming this and this only to be my Last Will & Testament.
