Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Mickey Fournier PO Box 1967 Lake City, FL 32056 fournier@hankins.com ------------------------- Will of John Wright In the name of God-amen I John Wright of the State of South Carolina and District of Chester planter being very sick and Weak in body but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be given unto God Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die-----do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament (Viz.) first of all my body I give and Recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian manner at the discreation of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I Shall Receive the Same again by the mighty power of God------- and as touching Such Worldly Estate where with it hath please God to Bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the Same in the following manner and Form First I do Order all my just debts to be paid 2nd I do Bequeath unto my Loving wife Susannah Three feather beds and furniture the Kitchen furniture Six milk cows the Bay Horse the Gray mare as many Hogs as she may Choose Two Hundred and fifty Bushels of Corn and fifty more if She needs it with what fodder She thinks Sufficient for this Season and One Table and a Trunk Thirdly I do bequeath unto my two daughters Elisabeth and Jemima my two negroe Girls Fourthly I Bequeath unto my Wife Susannah what Land I purchased of William Walker excepting that part which is known by the name of James Gills old place During her Life or While She Remains my Widow together with two ploughs two axes and three hoes fifthly my Third of that plantation or tract of land formerly the property of McLinns in regard to it if the Legatees of McLinns Estate will take my part at the Value they may have it if not it must be Sold as Soon as it can Conveniently be done Sixthly Them Two tracts of land Viz. that Whereon James Wright now lives & James Gills Old place I order to be Rented to James Wright to have the first offer of that Whereon he lives and Bryan Bandy the Refusal of James Gills old place if neither of them takes them I order them to be sold together with that tract of land I purchased of Charles Boyl as also all my other property that is not bequeathed in this ---- my last Will Excepting the Chairs in this my dwelling house and What Bags I have with one Barrel of flower and the furniture of the Smoke House Seventhly I Will that my two sons James and John Randolph be made Good English Scholars and this plantation as Bequeathed to my Wife at her Decease or marriage & all to them Viz. my two Sons but if that Should happen before they come of age then it is to be sold by my Executors and the price thereof put to Interest for their Benefit until they are of age after all my Debts are collected and my Goods and Chattles Sold if the amount will not Discharge my Just Debts then my Executors are to Sell the Land on which James Wright lives & James Gills Old place In Order to Discharge the Same and What monies remains after the payment of all Debts & Schooling my four Children I will & ordain to be Equally Divided among them my four Children and Eightly and lastly I Constitute make and ordain John B. (First) It is my desire that all my debts be paid and for this purpose I wish my Three negroes Big Mary her son Bob and daughter Julia together with all my personal property sold with the exception of all such as I heerin otherwise dispose of (Second) I hereby bequeath to my wife Elizabeth my plantation my negro man Dave my Dun Horse Charley and one mare Childers and so much of my stock of cattle and hogs as she may think proper to keep to be held and possessed by her during her life time and at her death to be distributed (Third) It is my wish that my negro girl little Mary my negro boy Laudick my negro girl Rachel and negro boy George be retained on the plantation till the death of my wife then to be sold and the proceeds divided equally amongst my children (Fourth) It is my wish that my children live on the plantation and be supported and schooled from the proceeds of the farm all except my son in law Wylie P. Lewis Peter Wylie Probated Nov. 25, 1842 ---------------------------- Will of Claybourn Wright In the Name of God, Amen I Claybourn Wright of Chester district and State of South Carolina being in my usual health, but knowing that it is appointed unto men once to die I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following In the first place I allow my Body to be decently buried and all my debts to be full paid 2ndly I will appoint and ordain that my beloved wife Elisabeth Wright Shall continue to hold enjoy and possess all the property which we now possess both real and personal until her death and at her death I will and bequeath my tract of land to my sons Reuben and William to be equally divided between them as can conveniently be done. the divisional line to begin at the mulbury above my spring. Reuben is to have the half whereon our house and Spring is and William the other half 3rd I will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Trussel one dollar 4th I will and bequeath to the Children of my son Richard Wrights deceased one dollar and Lastly I will and ordain that the remainder of our personal property Shall be sold at Publick Sale and equally divided between John Wright, Reuben Wright, Elizabeth Tollison, Annis Trussel and Mary Coleman---- And I do hereby appoint and ordain my three sons John Reuben and William to be the Whole and Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this 24th day of January Anno Domine 1824. Witnesseth that the said John & Rubin Wright agrees to give said Hedgpath one cow and yearling feather bed & furniture and spinning wheel for this the said John Hedgpeth trouble of keeping the said Richard Wright child Roda from the death of his wife until the death of said Richard. And said Hedgpeth on his part agrees to take the above named articles in full satisfaction for his trouble of keeping the said child Roda. Witness our hands this 26th of October 1819. A-1, pg. 83 Apt. 96, Pkg. 1602 ---------------------- Will of Mabery Wright In the name of God Amen I Mabery Wright of the District of Chester in the State of South Carolina being of Sound and Disposing mind and memory but weak in body and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and being Desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased god to bless me with do make and ordain this my Last will and testament in the manner following that is to say first I desire my executor hereinafter named to sell as much of my personal property as will pay all my just debts and funeral expenses. Secondly I give to my wife Sarah Wright the whole of my estate as well real as personal of what nature or quanity it may be for and during the term of her natural life and or widerhood and after my wifes deceased or marriage I direct my executor to Sell the whole of my estate both real and personal and divide the proceedes to be equally divided amounst my children namely Nicholas C Wright John B Wright Susan C Wright Elizabeth M Wright Mary A Wright Moses C Wright Ephraim F.
