SC Census: Transcribed by Jan Allison and proofread by Maria Troutman On two pages of this census there were no dittos for the birthplace entries. However, this census taker was very consistent in these entries elsewhere so that a reasonable assumption might be made that for those entries the birthplace would be the most recent entry above it. The transcriber, William Strother, is listed on every page as the enumerator but a distinct change in handwriting styles on occasion indicates that he had assistance is copying these records into final form. This 1850 census was actually finished in January, 1851. Although great care was taken to be as accurate as possible, researchers are urged to view the original handwriting if at all possible.
