Levin Watson was born in Johnston Co. NC in 1756. While a resident of Wilkes Co. GA he enlisted in 1777, served 8 mos. in Capt. John STEWART's Co., Col. Elijah CLARKE's GA Regt. & was in a battle with the Indians. He afterwards served as wagoner hauling grain to mill & the 1st Feb he served under Col. Clarke and was in a skirmish with the British near the fort at St. Augustine; length of service 7 mos. A little later & shortly before the battle of Savannah, he enlisted and served two months and 10 days in Capt. J. Stewart's Co., Col. Clark's GA Rgt. A short time later he enlisted and served 2 mos. 20 das in same regt, and was in battle of Black Stocks. He then returned to his father, named not stated, in Johnston Co. NC, where he was raised. In 1797 he moved to Anson Co. NC, and in 1829 he moved to Chesterfield Dist. SC. Allowed pension on claim while a resident there. He d 13 Apr 1837, place not stated. Widow living in 1841, no details given about her or any children. Brother of soldier James WATSON.
