Cone To William Hooley Conveyance The State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents, that I, William F. Cone in the State aforesaid, planter, in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred and ninety dollars to me in hand paid at and before the sealing of these presents by William Hooley in the State aforesaid (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged), have granted, bargained, sold, and released, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, and release unto the said William Hooley all that plantation or tract of land situated, lying, and being in St. Paul's Parish, Colleton County, and state aforesaid on the east side of the Edisto River about four miles from Sullivan Ferry, containing twelve hundred and forty six (1246) acres, more or less, said plantation or tract of land having been granted to Bayard B. Davidson by Eliza C. Grimke, special trustee and executrix of the last Will and Testament of Henry Grimke, Esqr., decd and by the said Bayard B. Davidson, granted, sold, and conveyed to James Perry and by the said James Perry to Daniel Willis to title bearing date January 1st 1860, and recorded in Register Office for Colleton County, and by the said Daniel Willis to me by deed bearing date the first day of August A.D. 1870, said tract bearing bounded on the northeast by the public road leading to Beach Hill, on the northwest by a road called the Cane Acre Road, and on the same road last aforesaid, and on the southwest by lands of Benjamin Perry and of the heirs of H. Ewing, and on the southeast by lands of the heirs of H. Ewing and of the Estate of Boone late Sauls as is meanfully shown by a plat hereto annexed, also all that plantation or tract of land situated, lying, and being in St. Paul's Parish, county and state aforesaid, on Beech Hill and a bay called Wolf's Castle, containing one hundred (100) acres, said plantation or tract of land was granted to Daniel Willis on the tenth day of June A.D. 1858 and conveyed to me by the said Daniel Willis by deed bearing date the first day of August A.D. 1870, bounded on the north by lands of Daniel Postell, south by James Perry "Bruner" tract, west by lands of Wilson and Daniel Postell, east by lands of Willis and Perry, on said tracts of land are two dwellings, houses, barn, corn house, five negro houses, about 100 acres of corn and cotton land cleared and under fence, and 300 acres of cleared land, TOGETHER, with all and singular the Rights, Members, Hereditaments and appurtenances to the said Premises belonging, or in anywise incident or appertaining: TO HAVE AND TO HOLD, all and singular the said premises before mentioned unto the said William Hooley, his Heirs and Assigns forever. And I do hereby bind myself and my Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said William Hooley, his Heirs and Assigns, against me and my Heirs, and all and every other person lawfully claiming, or to claim the same, or any part thereof WITNESS my Hand and Seal, this nineteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy one and in the ninety fifth year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America. Shaffer, Clerk Court The State of South Carolina Colleton District I, John Aplin, Trial Justice, do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern, that Mrs. Mary Jane Cone, wife of the within named W.F. Cone, did this day appear before me, and upon being privately and separately examined by me, did declare that she does freely, voluntarily, and without any compulsion, dread, or fear of any person or persons whomsoever, renounce, release, and forever relinquish unto the within named William Hooley, his heirs and assigns, all her interest and estate, and also all her right and claim of Dower, of, in, or to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released.
