W.S.Godley to Jepe Dubois  Title to Realty The state of South Carolina Know all men by these present that I W.S. Godley, in the state aforesaid,Planter, in consideration of the sum of seven hundres and seventy one dollars to me paid by Jesse Dubois, in the aforesaid state,Planter,have granted, bargained, sold and  release and by these present do grant, bargain sell and release unto the said Jepe Dubois, all that tract or piece of land situated in the District of Colleton and the state aforesaid, in what is now called the Fork of Salkhatchie containing(257) two hundred fifty seven acres, more or less, and having such marks, buttings and boundries as are delineated in a plat attached hereto.and making a part and parcel of this title. Said twh hundred fifty-seven acres being a portion of a tract of five hundre3d and fourteen acres bounded South by lands of Benjamin Godley, myself, the Little Salkatchie Swamp, East by said swamp, south and west by lands of Isaac, Dempsey, and J.Q.A.(my notation, John Quincy Adams) Dubois.Together with all and singular, the rights(can't read )...Hereditament and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining. To have and to hold all and singular the premises afore mentioned, until the said Jepe Dubois, his heirs and ........forever. And I hereby bind myself, my heirs,executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said Jepe Dubois, his heirs and .....against myself and my heirs, and all other lawful claiming, or to claim the same or any part thereof. Witness my hand and seal this 12th day of Jasnuary in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and in the 92nd year of the soverignty and Independenced of the United States of America. Signed Wm. S. Godley, signed , sealed and delivered to in the presence of F.A.Cook, G,S, Crosby. State of South Carolina, Colleton District.  Personally appeared before me F.A.Cook, and made oath that he saw  the witness named  W.S. Godley sign seal and delivered  to the written deed, and that he with G.S.Crosby witness the execution thereof. Sworn before me the 22 day of Janurary 1868. J Trowell Magistrate. State of South Carolina, Colleton Distict. I, J.Trowell Magistrate, do hereby certify unto all above it may concern, that Mrs M.M. Godley, the wife of the within named W.S.Godley did this day appear before me, and a... being privately and seperately examined by me, did declare that she does voluntarly and without any compulsion dread of fear of any person relinguish unto the said Jepe Dubois his heirs and assigns all her interest and estate and also all her right and claim of dower, of, in orto all and singular the presise within mentioned and release signed M.M Godley.
