South Carolina IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Alexander Shaw of St. Bartholamews Parish Colleton County & province aforesaid Planter being weak in Body But of perfect sound mind and memory and Calling to mind the mortality of the Body and Well knowing it is appointed for all men once to Die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) FIRST & PRINCIPALLY I recommend my soul to Almighty God hoping thro' the merits of my Saviour pardon and forgivness of all my Sins, my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be Interr'd in a decent and Christian Like manner at the Discretion of my Executor or Executrix hereafter mentioned and as to what worldly Estate it hath pleased Amighty God to Betsow upon me I Give and Bequeath as follows It is my Will and desire that all my Lawfull Debts and funeral Charges Be first Discharged. ITEM I Will and Bequeath one full tliird part of my Personal Estate to my Well Beloved Wife Martlia Shaw to her and her forever in Lieu of her Dower. ITEM I Will and Bequeath to my Well Beloved sister sister formerly Ann Gray now Ann Atkins and her Issue by William Gray deceas'd (that is) John, William Alexander & Martha Gray, another full tliird of my personal Estate to be equally Divided between the said John, William, Alexander; and Martha Grays or the survivors of them at the discease of Ann Atkins to them and their Heirs forever. ITEM L Will and Bequeath the other one third part of my Personal Estate to my Beloved Sister Martha Newman During her natural Life & at her Demise to Her Issue John George Alexander & Susannah Newman & Ann Newman now Filput Martha Newman other wise Smith to be equally divided between them to them and their Heirs forever. ITEM T Give and Bequeath unto Thos. Filput One Tract of Land Containing Five Hundred Acres on Savannah River in Granville County to him and his Heirs forever And if in Case it Shall appear here-after that any other Lands in this province shall prove my property I give and Bequeath all such Land or lands to my well beloved Wife Martha Shaw Her & her Heirs forever. AND LASTLY I Constitute and appoint Well Beloved Wife Martha Shaw Executrix and Wm. McTier Thos. Filput John Newman John & Wm. Gray Exors to this my Last Will and Testament hereby Revoking all former wills by me made. IN WITNESS whereof I have Hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this Sixteenth Day of April in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Five and in the fifty Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third of Great Brittain france & Ireland King Defender of the faith & ca & ca.
