All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/sc/scfiles.htm Submitted by Beth Collins, 9 Feb 2009, for use in the SCGenWeb Archives ************************************************ Charleston Will Transcription Vol. 10, pp. 691-692 Will of John Broadbelt So Carolina IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen I John Broadbelt of Granville County the province aforesaid being of a Sound & Disposing mind But Weak of Body and Calling to Mind that it is appointed for all men Once to Die & to prevent all Doubts & disputes in Case of my Death I do hereby Make this my Last Will & Testament IMPRIMIS FIRST I resign my soul to God who Gave it in hopes of a Happy immortality & as to my Worldly estate with which it Has pleased God to Bless me I Dispose thereof as follows FIRST I Order that my Just Debts an Funeral Expences be paid as soon after my discease as may be ITEM I Constitute and appoint my Loving wife Mary Broadbelt to be my Executrix and my Brother in Law David Ferguson my Good Friend Andrew Postell to be my Exors of this my Last Will & Testament fully Confiding in their Houour and integrity to Interpret the same according to my True Intent & meaning Item as I signed a Settlement to my Loving wife Mary before Marriage of three Negroes Named Ponpon, Tom, Dafne, & Ceaser and in Case she Comes in for the before Mentioned Negroes that I allow to be her part & no more But in Case She does Not Comes in for the above then She my Wife Mary to Come in with my Children Share and Share alike in all the ___ables as well as Debts The Land to be Divided betwixt my Children share and Share alike and In Case one should Die before she Come of age or marryed then the other share to go the Survivor ITEM I desire my Executrix & Executors to Dispose first of All my Cattle Except then Cows & Calves & Six two Years Old Stears ------ Signed Sealed published & Declared By the Testator Jno.
