"Poestenkill. A. Robert Wagner, 75, passed away with family and friends around his bedside at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, on Saturday, June 18, 2005. After a long and spirited bought [bout] with cancer, Robert's condition changed suddenly allowing a peaceful and dignified end to his time with us. He was the son of the later Arthur and Grace (Nanry) Wagner. Robert grew up on Long Island [New York], ran track, played football, and developed an interest in agriculture. He attended Farmingdale, met his partner in life, H. Louise Weyrick, and moved to Poestenkill, N.Y., in 1953. In Poestenkill, the family began building a business around a small 150 acre truck farm that today has become a 300 cow dairy operation, Wagner Farms. Throughout this time, Robert gave many people their first job and imparted a work ethic that lives today through his sons that run the dairy operation and others that work vocations outside the farm. H[e] was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Poestenkill, and president for 25 years of board of directors of Farm Credit, now First Pioneer. Robert is survived by his great wife, and mother, Louise: four sons, Robert, Peter, Mark, and Thomas; their families and his grandchildren, Madison, Luke, Haydn, Keith, Mark, Katelyn, Lauren and Christian; and his sister, Eleanor Walsh (Edward) of Dillon, [Dillon County], S.C. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Bryce Funeral Home with Rev.
