While listening to a radio in his home he passed away suddenly. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Wilkerson, he had been a life long resident of Dillon County, carrying on a very extensive farming operations, and was a man of quiet disposition, friendly and very active in church and community affairs. Funeral services were conduted at Pleasant Grove Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, with Rev. W.E. Bost in charge. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Hyatt Wilkerson, one daughter, Mrs. S.B. Herring of Dillon, three sons, A.W. Jr., William J., and John of Dillon, three sisters, Mrs. C.M. Marvin [Roxie Morris] and Mrs. Bessie Carter of Dillon and Mrs. Mandy Poole of Raeford, and two brothers Ed Wilkerson of Fairmont and Bill Wilkerson of Lumberton. ------------------------- The State Newspaper, 3/15/1950 Dillon – March 14- (special) – Funeral service for Archie Wilkerson, 72, who died suddenly in his home Monday afternoon, will be held from Pleasant Grove church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. W.E. Bost. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Wilkinson. He was a prominent farmer in the Manning section and a devout member of the Pleasant Grove church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Hyatt Wilkerson; one daughter, Mrs. S. B. Herring of Dillon; three sons, A. W. Jr., William J. and John of Dillon; three sisters, Mrs. C.M. Marvin [Morris] and Mrs. Bessie Carter of Dillon and Mr.s.
