Do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I give and recomend to earth from whence it came tjo be buried in a decent christain like manner at the discreation of my Executors nothing doubting but at Resurection, I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as-touching such worldly estate as it has pleased God to Blefs me with in this life I give demifs and despose in the following manner and from me Thomas Newman . First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth two hundred and fiftey acres of land where I now live and after her deth to my daughter Susanah------------------------------------- I give and bequeath to beloved son Nehemiah one hundred and forty five acres of land to be laid out from lthe Lynches Creek Road to my back line on Carns land, to enclude the plantation Island Branch known by the Nam of Coles I give and bequeath to my son Esly one hundred and forty acres of land adjoining the above land and being the balance of my land adjoing to jthe land of Henry Durant on the South side of the Island Branch I give to my son Eshaliah one hundred acres of land more or lefs being all the lands I profess between the Island Branch and the Path known by the name of Hurst Path I give to my daughters Axsha son Thomas Cole one hundred acres of land to be laid off from the before mentioned Hurst Path to Hopes Swamp a parllel line with line between me and Durant to join the said Durant land I give and bequeath to my son Samuel one hundred acres of land more or lefs being the ballance of said land tract situated between Hurst Path and Hope Swamp I give to my daughter Mary bequeath to my daughter Mary, Two Elds daughters first named Ellener and Elizabeth one hundred acres of land to be laid out as it is now laid out, adjoining Henry Durant land being the place where the now live I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one hundred acres of land adjoining between on Samuel Newman & Thomas Cole It is my will and testament that all the aforesaid land give and bequeathed by me to my children, to be for them to use and improve during there natural lives and then to be equally divided among there children. and so to be continued to devolve from one generation to an other but should any of my children die with out isue there part to be equally divided among my surviving heirs and as touching my personal estate I order that it to be equally divided among all my children and my beloved wife her life time and then to my daughter Susanah I do hereby utterly disanull and revoke all other wills and bequeaths herefore made by me and I do hereby appoint constitute and ordain my beloved brother Jonathan Newman and my beloved sons Nehemiah and Ethaliah Newman my Executors of this my last will and testament in witnefs wherof I have set my hand and seal this 23 Day of July 1806 Thomas Newman (SEAL) Witnefs Richard Wm Tycer Simon Donald Senr (Recorded in Will Book "A" Pge 55) Recorded 14th Day of Nov. 1806 William Taylor Ordy Bundle 74 Pkge 4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WILL OF ELIZABETH NEWMAN In the name of God Amen-----Know all concerned that I Elizabeth Newman of Salem Lynches Creek Sumter District So. Carolina--Widow of Thomas Newman deceast---being weak in body but of sound mind and recollection--Knowing the uncertainty of life do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following Viz---In the first place I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God my creator and redeemer- who gave it - and desire my body to have decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors- hoping for a gloruis resurrection in Christ at the last day--As to my wordly estate I will and desire all my lawful debts without interest I request to be paid to my sons John and Samuel eighty dollars each and forty three dollars to my son Eli who received thirty seven dollars already-- This money I received from those three John, Samuel and Eli in the price of Buster and pay the interest in my lifetime-- To Eli I have also fiven a brown Filly, featherbed and furniture not to be charged to him lin the division-- To Susanna my daughter I have given a featherbed and furniture not to be charged in the division also to her little son my brownish red head cow & heifer yearling and increase and in case of his death next living child--My will and desire is--That all my estate real and personal be appraised and equally divided between my sons Athaliah, John, Samuel, Eli and daughter Susanna without expense I appoint Danl Dubose and Joseph Commander and my two sons John and Samuel- - That one dollar and no more be paid to each of the following child--Executors-----------------ren--Natherniah, Elizabeth, Achsah and Mary-- I desire my land to be divided from a Gum Corner up the little branch between Nehehmn and L.
