All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/sc/scfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet King JPerdue192@aol.com April 2, 2009, 5:06 pm Source: Dorchester Sc Will Bk, Pg 34 Written: September 25, 1770 Recorded: August 9, 1771 IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, I John Perdriau of Dorchester being of perfect mind and Memory thanks be given unto God, calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing it is appointed for all Men once to die do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say, Principally and first of all I Give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God, that gave it, and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a plain Christian manner nothing doubting but at the general recurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God, and as touching such Worldly goods and Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I Give demise and dispose of the same In the folloiwng manner, first I give and Bequeath unto my Son Andrew Perdriau one thousand pound I give and Bequeath unto my son Abraham Perdriau one thousand pounds, the same sum I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Esther Perdriau of one thousand pounds. I give and Bequeath unto my Sons Samuel, John and James Perdriau five pounds to each of them I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Amelia Stuart the sum of five pounds I Give and Bequeath unto my daughter Jess Hutchingson the Sum of five pounds I will that the two Tracts of Land at the SaltCatchers be Sold and the Monies arising therefrom to be equally divided among my Children, I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Esther Perdriau ten Negroes named Cuffee, Will, Joe, Frank, Sarah, Florah, Ceals, Nancey, Peggey, Phillis, together with the Plantation, Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Hogs, Riding Chair, Plantation Tools with the Household Furniture excepting three Beds for Andrew, Abraham and Esther Perdriau, I will that my Wife may have the full enjoyment of the above Bequeath during her Life and at her death the said Negroes. Land, Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Hogs, Riding Chair, Plantation Tools with Household Furniture to be sold and the monies arising from the Sale thereof to be equally divided among all my children share and share alike to all, I will that my Lawful Debts my funeral charges be paid, I will that all the monies remaining after paying the above Bequeaths Debts and Funeral charges to be given to my Wife, I do constitute and appoint my well beloved Wife Executrix my sons Samuel and John Perdriau executors of this my last Will and Testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, IN WITNESS thereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seal this Twenty fifth day of September in the year of our Lord, one Thousand Seven hundred and Seventy.
